Fear of a gorn planet- it has begun...
This is deeann:
It's on! (this might be a bit redundant from the other posts but here's a quick run-down of the progress so far...)
He made it to the plane on time (Cary's post- see her comment under "The Grand Plan") which was looking a little sketchy for a bit and found his PDA in his backpack (he'd lost it and was worried it got packed in with the stuff for storage), and he made it to Australia.
Phil (Road and Race in Australia) says he picked up the bike and is heading North and they managed to fit all of the stuff he took with him (it was a lot!). Phil has pics and they'll be posted to www.bevelheaven.com.
p.s. For those who don't know me yet my name is DeeAnn and the Gornzilla has asked me to help with maintaining the blog (and how *can* you turn down a request from someone in a lime-green leisure suit?). Sometimes my husband (Lurch) might be posting entries or helping out also (hence the user name "deeann or lurch"). Sometimes we're lazy and may not identify which one of us it is but since lurch tends to use more colorful language than I do you should be able to figure it out pretty quick :)
Anyway- woohoo!!!!!!

Posted by deeann or lurch at October 15, 2004 04:20 PMIf you are bored, check this out. Some girl tours Chernobyl on her motorcycle.. ghost city! you should go but do it the manly Gorn way without a Gieger Counter

Posted by: jbh at October 15, 2004 05:47 PMWow- that is wild! I've been curious to see what Chernobyl looks like now. Pretty weird.
I wouldn't try it but even if Dave did it the manly Gorn way without a Gieger Counter I don't think he'd end up as manly when the trip was over due to the radation count in some of the places there...

Posted by: the jeffrey tambor at October 15, 2004 07:42 PMCool! I don't know a lot about motorcycles but I do think that's a really nice looking bike. That last pic of him riding off is pretty funny.
I added a link to the pics on the main page also.
Thanks!!!
Posted by: deeann at October 16, 2004 12:45 PMHey Chris, Talk to my sister about my bank account. I'm on a fucked up internet terminal that won't let me into my gmail account, add to the journal or let me email the stuff I've written to DeeAnn. You don't want to read 3 days worth at once, do you?
I'm in Brisbane without the number of the Benelli guy who I'm supposed to meet. Good thing all I have is a credit card and 60 Australian cents. And now 28 minutes on a terminal that isn't much use.
Hey Kellye, tell Emily that lots of Aussies talk like they're asking a question. She'd fit right in.
Dave, did you have the phone number in one of your email accounts?
Posted by: deeann at October 16, 2004 05:44 PMA sweet ride dude. Always liked those Ducati's.
Remember that down under the john's flush backwards.
It's probably a cookie think on the end at the cafe (I'm guessing).....
If you're still on and still can't email me from any of your accounts, try setting up a throwaway account at www.fastmail.fm Use deeann321@123mail.org as the referring account- if that works I'll see your request and I'll confirm to activate it and then send me the info where you think the phone number is and I can try and find it.
Oh yeah- Lurch also thinks the throwaway account might not work either as it sets cookies (if that's the problem). But if you're still on it's worth a shot.
Posted by: deeann at October 16, 2004 05:57 PM60 cents Aussie? Isn't that like close to a buck American? That's some good living! You'll probably be happy to hear, I'm still picking dirt out of my nose from helping your mom, sisters and Charo (her posting name) clean up yer house last night. Oh yeah, and I looted some more stuff from there, too. Thanks!
Posted by: lurch at October 16, 2004 06:27 PMOkay- you're probably not there anymore- but just in case and you still need the guy's phone number and you have it in one of your email accounts call us collect.
Posted by: deeann at October 16, 2004 06:36 PMHey Dave, Chris and the rent are all good; he and Cary worked it out. Today was Emily's b-day party. I met the porn star, who was super nice, by the way! How's your butt? Tired yet? Have you even played that banjo? E-kitty misses you and so do we (with the exception of maybe Jacquelyn). All 3 library books were returned as well as monkey prison keys.
Posted by: Gina at October 16, 2004 07:37 PMUmm...60 cents Aussie is actually like about 40 cents US. Porn Stars and Monkey Prison Keys. Great fun!
The bike looks solid even if Dave's looking a little ragged. Where's the Koala Bear strapped to the handle bars? You made it to Brisbane that's decent start.
Posted by: dennis at October 17, 2004 12:28 AMAh, I had it backwards. *That* makes it a dire situation. But I suppose that's what aggresive panhandling was invented for: "Hey, I'm an American. Give me some goddamned money or I am gonna have my trigger-happy president bomb the shit outta your country, too!" I think that'll work.
Posted by: lurch at October 17, 2004 08:38 AMTo add, like DeeAnn just said, "make 'em a coalition of the willing - willing to give you money, that is." Damn, wish I'd thought of that!
Posted by: lurch at October 17, 2004 08:46 AMExcellent point! Dave's lived long enough in Midtown to know all the panhandling moves. In fact, he might make enough to skip Japan.
Coalition of the willing! Last I heard Australia was a member.
Posted by: dennis at October 17, 2004 04:32 PMHey Dave!! Just got the notice from UC Davis about all of the parking tickets you've gotten when you've borrowed my car to take to work. We're up to 60 bux now!!
Thanks Bro!!
Posted by: Sarah at October 17, 2004 06:14 PMdade, did you go to phillip island and watch rossi race?
dade
Hey Dave- Glad to see that you did indeed make it to Australia! The bike looks good but keerist it IS tiny. And this coming from a guy with a Crosley. Good luck, and looking forward to loading the Duc into the back of the wagon in a few years.
